Sir,
   The necessities of the Confederate service as represented to me, require more railroad transportation for corn from Tarboro and Weldon to Richmond.
   In view of this necessity I have consented that the train of ten cars pledged on the seventeenth inst. through the President of the Wilmington & Weldon Road to the service of the State, shall be used by the Confederate States for the above mentioned service.
   You will therefore please hold the said train of ten cars subject to the order of the proper Confederate Officer.
